What are the different types of Google OneBox results (also known as quick answer results) that show up? The “OneBox” is the specialized result that will show up depending on the users query. One example is the “time” onebox – if you search for “time in Boston”, you’ll get one that shows the time in different cities named Boston.
Images – triggered by “cats”. Shows 4 images and links off to Google Image search. Sometimes the carrousel will appear at the top of the results too.
Calculator – triggered by “7+7”. Shows the equation that was extracted from the query and the calculator result….
Earthquake – triggered by “earthquake”. Shows the most recent earthquakes around the world.
Stock quotes – if you enter a ticker symbol, e.g. GOOG
Flight suggestions – : “bos to sfo flights”
News: Not sure what the triggers are, but a lot of stories trigger it
Videos: Unsure of the exact triggers, but like news a lot of things trigger it
Dictionary: “good definition” will get you dictionary results.
Flights: e.g. AA240
Code search: e.g. memcpy
Release dates :e.g. Gravity release date
Sports – triggered by “red sox”. Shows the previous and upcoming games and scores for that sports team.
Time – triggered by “time in london” or “london time”.
City – triggered by “new york” or “boston”. Includes a map and also some images. With the recent hummingbird update these results are back far more than before for local business listings
Street address – triggered by “100 university ave, cambridge, ma”. Links to a Maps result.
Local Businesses – triggered by “pizza Boston”.
